While factors like work-life balance and positive culture undoubtedly contribute to overall satisfaction, prioritising employee well-being is the most critical element.

Employee well-being has emerged as a critical component of organisational success. This comprehensive concept extends far beyond traditional notions of job satisfaction, encompassing diverse elements that contribute to a thriving workforce. From building meaningful work experiences to creating positive relationships, organisations increasingly recognise the profound impact of employee well-being on engagement and productivity. Research suggests that employees who report higher happiness levels can be up to 13% more productive, demonstrating a clear connection between employee well-being and business success.

At Omni, we understand that our employees’ happiness is vital to our company’s achievements. To assess and enhance staff wellbeing, we work closely with our Learning and Development (L&D) team to conduct a brief yet targeted survey bi-annually. This evaluation concentrates on areas such as L&D initiatives, apprenticeship programmes, and how effectively employees’ skills are utilised within the organisation. Understanding that employees are the backbone of our organisation and the drivers of its success, our survey programme is centred around our workforce. These questionnaires aim to collect genuine insights and offer a comprehensive view of staff members’ experiences. By amassing information on diverse facets of the workplace, we strive to ensure that our company culture, operational methods, protocols, and benefits effectively strengthen our workforce satisfaction and the organisation’s progress.

Peter Lee, Head of Learning and Development, Omni Group, reflecting on the Omni May 2024 employee survey results, says, “The survey results have been encouraging, confirming that our current strategy aligns well with our employees’ needs and aspirations and highlighted the exceptional talent and diverse skill sets present throughout Omni, reinforcing our confidence in the remarkable capabilities of our team members. The survey covered various topics, including career development and opportunities, recognition and growth, and skill maximisation. This data-driven approach allows us to gain valuable insights into employee experiences and perceptions, enabling the L&D department to make informed decisions about potential improvements or changes. Regularly conducting these surveys demonstrates our commitment to employee well-being and engagement while gathering crucial information to help drive their career growth within Omni.”

For Omni, the bi-annual survey, which primarily relies on quantitative data, has proven invaluable in uncovering a wealth of information about our employees and their level of happiness. Through careful analysis, Omni has identified significant trends, correlations, and patterns that shed light on workplace dynamics. One of the key objectives of our surveys was to measure the overall relationship between employee happiness and their experience with Omni. By delving into the responses provided by our staff, Omni has gained a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to job satisfaction and overall well-being within Omni.

Vinita Bhandari, Director of Human Resources, Omni Group, discussed the strategic benefits of conducting the surveys and commented, “At Omni, understanding our diverse and geographically dispersed workforce is paramount. That’s why our employee surveys are critical. They provide a rich tapestry of insights, enabling us to see the bigger picture of the employee experience. We can connect the dots between work environment aspects and employee satisfaction by analysing response patterns. This holistic approach sheds light on how our policies, practices, and culture truly impact our people. This valuable knowledge empowers us to make targeted improvements and strategic decisions for a more fulfilling workplace.”

In lieu of previous surveys, Omni has integrated technology into the workplace, significantly enhancing employee happiness and overall satisfaction. It has revolutionised employee training, making it more streamlined and focused, allowing staff to acquire new skills efficiently and effectively. Omni also took the opportunity to develop a mobile application, which has also been a catalyst for employee interaction, facilitating more thorough and timely communication. These advancements enable concerns to be escalated promptly, and immediate support systems provide employees instant access to resources and assistance whenever needed. The strategic implementation of technology has become a cornerstone in promoting employee well-being and driving organisational success.

Omni’s comprehensive bi-annual survey has served as an invaluable compass, guiding us to understand better our staff’s well-being and their pivotal role in Omni’s success. The data illuminated employee satisfaction levels, revealing the key factors that fuel happiness and engagement. We can now make informed decisions to enhance our work environment further, nurture professional growth, and ultimately drive the company towards greater success. By encouraging and leveraging our most valuable asset – our people – we ensure Omni remains a beacon of employee satisfaction and a leader in its field.
